Dear Hiram: you are an incredibly awsome person and you have nice teath. Sincerely, you. ps. =>>>

If you are currently a resident of Kitimat and you are in the habbit of drinking coffee then there is a new shop in town which you simply MUST check out. It's called the Congo Caffee. It's located where the Bear's Den used to be and it is the best coffee in town - it's also a new great hangoug spot. Not that most of you ARE from Kitimat. I just had a burning desire in my heart to share. Say, editor - I'm looking around the site and I don't see that Alicia story that Flawless Films Comunications sent our way. That was a good story. Why isn't it in here? Oh that reminds me, it's really time to do something with this site. I have a scrap draft of annals that I think I might consolidate and put on here. I believe it's around a hundred thousand words - so the length of a short book. It's a far cry from what Annals will be completed but it is a LOT closer than the original and I think it should provide some good reading. It introduces all the new characters that will be in Annals, though I think I'll go with a bit differnt style on the completed book. here I ran around between four or five stories. i think the first book will be about Maleoke, Riawnu, and Arlen, and the second will deal with Glordesh, Teryan, and the Pirates, as well as Gomarden and whomever else I end up placing at Lork Manor. I'm still a little shady on that bit and I'm not sure if I like the vampire twist but this might be a good chance to bounce the ideas off some people.
Well now that I've rambled on about it someone remind me to actually get the story on here. And we need to look into that Alicia thing too. well there's my thoughts for the day. And may I remind you all that I am always eager to put more on here so if you have any form of writing that you think deserves to be read please send it to me. seeing as the comment page is a little tight you are probably best off sending a comment to let me know you have a story to which I will reply whereupon you can send your story directly to my email. Good day to you all.

Agents, Editors, Queries, SASE, Summary, GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!

it must have been about a week and a half now that I dropped the letter into the mailbox and the waiting game began. Up until that point I had been filling nealry every spare moment I had with reading and research, learning what Literary Agents like, how to get their attention, how not to piss them off, etc. etc. And then the wonderful game of pouring over hundres upon hundres of listings for Agencies and trying to find the ONE that I thought was most likely to represent me and whom I wanted most to represent me. Long lists became shorter lists and finally I settles on the Jennifer DeChiara Literary Agency (www.jdlit.com). From then on it was a matter of drafting the perfect query letter. I must have spent fifteen hours on the stupid thing, writing, revising, and most importantly - chopping. In one page say who you are, what your credentials are (easy, I have none), what you book is about, and why it will sell. it sounds easy enough but by the time you throw in headers and footers you ahve room for three short paragraphs and there is alot that needs to besaid and alot more begging to be said that should not be.

In case you haven't spent the hours researching literary agents like I have, they are basically the lawyers of the publishing world. Once they've decided to represent author/book for the low price of 10 to 20 percent, it's their job to sell the book to the publisher and negotiate mutually beneficial agreements. The percent part means that the more the author gets paid the more they get paid so really everyone wins. The agents know the publishing industry like nobody else and they know how to sell books which is something that I not only know nothing about but care nothing for. So really the trick, I have discovered is NOT to get a book published, but to get it represented. That is why I have queried an Agent.

Of course, having poured my sweat and bood into the letter chances are very high that I will wait three to six monnths to receive a standard rejection letter. All that really means is that I have to draft and sent another one until I find the right Agent. I guess all I'm really trying to say is that Garawain is in the early stages of being REALLY published by an actual publisher and while i've had a few published copies of a book, I hope that in the near future Hiram Webb/ AAK Bresh will be an actual real life honest to God published author. I now await the Canadian/United States Postal service to do their swift duty.

That part of the show where Lancelot screws over queen, king, and country - in that order

By now I'm sure you're getting the idea of how this goes. I come on once about every three months and get all kinds of kewl ideas which I plan to do - and promptly forget to do them. This time I do have a bit of good news to report however. The first is that for the time being I have a form of enternet at my abode thanks to one of my neighbors whom I recognize only by the pseudonym "wolves" who has not yet figured out how to secure his wireless enternet. It flashes in and out and somewhere in the middle i gain a bit of access so this site MAY see a little bit more attention from me. IT is also noteworthy that the package of shorts that I mentioned last time is at this time with my editor/webmaster, and will probably be on here shortly... if she's any more dilligent than I am. I can also report that I've been doing quite a bit of writing lately and I'm about a quarter done Annals - getting very excited about that. For those of who who give a rat's blond bahookey I'm graduating in a couple of weeks. Perhaps it's a little too much to expect that my freedom from highschool will mean more free time on my hands for pursuit of my hobbies, but I remain optamistic. I've just come up with a verry kewl idea. It would be quite plesant of me to commit myself to one short narrative a week, or somehting to that effect, so that there would always be new work being added to this place. Of course, having developed this brilliant scheme, I can stand back and watch hell freeze over while I DON'T do it. It was a kewl idea though, I must say... Well, for the moment, that's all I have to announce and so I shall be abrupt and end here.

Delusions of Grandeur

I can already tell I'm gonna have so much fun with these blog titles.... anyway I was sitting at home last night and you'll never guess what I was doing... I WAS WRITING... yes I know there's lie detectors scrambling in thirteen states and at least two provinces to shut me down on that last statement, but it is the truth. I was actually dictating the manner in which I enter an obscure town with my good friend Anatra (A character from Annals HOPAP) and bust up the most nutorious inn in town... anyway the point being I was actually writing.... Well it doesn't take a genious to realize that I don't get out of the house much these days, and certainly not down to the library much so while I'm here I should get it done right. I'm sure by now you've noticed the new design. I'm absolutely in love with it though I have found at least one horrifying error that must be brought to my editor's attention immediately. I'm also intending to give her a plethora of new short work to put on here... it should keep her busy for a while and give you something new to talk about... Oh and if my parent's are reading PLEASE come talk to me before you abandon me to hell on account of what you read on here.... hmm that reminds me... Jesse you should just read this blog... It would save me some time... I'll just sugguest stuff to myself and then you can grab it off here and do it... lol I think this is called lazy... anyway.... yeah I'll get on sending you that thingemabob with a lot of new stuff.... Not sure whether it's good or not, but my writing12 teacher said so to the tune of 98 percent... somethign about how I have found my voice or something... it was verry flattering.... ANYWAY yes what I was getting to before I got side tracked... we need a system of rating on here... obviously most works are innocent and hospitable for all audiences, but some works, like the piece which will be coming entitles "November Sixteenth" WILL need some form of warning as to the content... I'm not sure if we wanna go with the canadian government style with G and PG 14A and 18A (don't think we'll be including the last category on here in any case) but some of them should have a warning something to the extent of "This piece contains Mild Language - Viewer discression is advised" or maybe a more personal note like "MOM - don't read this. YOU WON'T LIKE IT" or mabye a more universally understood "IF you hated SinCity you're not gonna like this" (again I don't think I'll publish anything to compare w/ SinCity...) Then again I kinda wanna MAKE my mom read November Sixteenth just to see what she things... anyway yeah there's a thought to mull over....
I'm in contact with a new author who's interested in publishing on this site. Haven't viewed his work yet but it looks promising. We'll see what comes of it.
Well I think that's all for now.
Peace out (or in - whatever your preference is) Be Brave! Be Bold! WATCH FOR THE SIGNS!

New Beginnings

Rumor has it my websight's being redone. I've seen a couple of samples, but most of it is still a little sketchy and I really don't know what's going on. But that's a good thing because these days I have NO time online to bop around with finnicky things like web pages and the like. At any rate, this blog is actually supposed to replace the "News" page on my site, so I guess this is the introduction thingey. If you're seeing this then you've most likely seen the site too and so any attempt at explaining anything to you is largely mundane. Therefore I can say only welcome, good riddance and SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT BUYING MY BOOK!!! I know what you're thinking right now: I'm just in this for the money. Well of course I'm not because as of yet there's no money in it for me... but.... I would LIKE to be in it for the money....

For those of you who actually know something of what I do (most likely everyone) I can announce that my predraft of Annals will probaby be showing up on this site at some point in the futre. It's not complete or edited, but it should be good for a few hours of entertainment. I want to make an attempt at gaining publicity, but with so little time spent online I seriously doubt that will happen. However, it's a nice thought and one I'll entertain for a while yet.

Having nothing more of serious importance to say I'll end this here before I say something we'll both regret. Enjoy the site to the best of your ability, and as always, if you have ANYTHING that you want to see on here, send it to me... somehow... not quite sure how at the moment, but yeah... just do it! or at least tell me that you WANT to send it to me.... because this sight's gotta get bloody boaring with just my work on here..... ANYWAY, yeah, enjoy
